Italian Airline Blue Panorama Commences Flight Operations to the Maldives

Italian airline Blue Panorama has started chartered flights to the Maldives on 20th June 2019 with Poland’s Itaka and Maldivian travel agency Sun Ocean. The first flight along with the crew was welcomed at Velana International Airport with a welcoming event along with a press event with representatives from MMPRC, MACL, UHC Hotel and Blue Panorama.

The Managing Director of Sun Ocean said they estimate an average arrival of a thousand tourists per month via the weekly flights.

Speaking at the press event, the Managing Director of MMPRC, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed acknowledged the efforts of private parties and the role they play in development of the tourism industry of Maldives.

“Initiatives like this play a vital role in the progress of the tourism industry of Maldives. These operations will most definitely help the marketing efforts of Maldives as a destination. We will always welcome and support private parties who work for the betterment of the industry.” Thoyyib Mohamed said.

He remarked further on the importance of a direct connection between Poland and the Maldives in terms of tourist arrivals. He added that the MMPRC is conducting several marketing activities for Europe this year. Poland has shown an increase in arrivals to Maldives past five years. Although the total number of arrivals from Poland remains low, at 12000 arrivals in 2018, it was a rapid growth of 38.2% when compared to the year 2017.

Huvadhoo Association for Tourism Organizes Paddle out to Celebrate International Surfer Day 2019

World Surf League (WSL) organized a worldwide paddle out on 15th of June celebrating the International Surfing Day as a part of their Stop Trashing Our Waves moment. The main focus of the event with thousands of surfers around the globe was to show the world how surfers are stepping up their game to protect the ocean!

Surfers has always been playing a huge role in the fight against the pollution of the oceans around the world. The fight against global warming has never been stronger as the climate change has a direct impact on the planet, destroying the natural wonders around the world.

In the Maldives, Huvadhoo Association for Tourism (HAT) is organized a paddle out near Blue Bowls (Gdh Vaadhoo) in partnership with Ayada Maldives. The paddle out was carried away featured more than 30 surfers, including local surfers from Gaafu Dhaalu Vadhoo Island, and surfers from Ayada Maldives and Blue Shark Safari boat.

To be a part of the make a pledge moment by WSL surfers needs to decide what they are willing to do this year to stop polluting oceans, post a photo with their post on social media with the hashtag #StopTrashingWaves. Staying committed to the pledges throughout time to hopefully see better oceans and waves in the future.

Dhigali Maldives Sets up a Water-bottling Plant

Dhigali Maldives has setup a water-bottling plant as a part of the resort’s eco-friendly endeavors and commitment to the environment.

“It is a great pleasure to share the exciting news that Dhigali Maldives, has set up a water bottling plant this month and thereby bid farewell to large amounts of plastic.” The resort said in a statement.

“The introduction of the water bottling plant is an important element in the resort’s eco-friendly endeavours and a commitment to the protection of environment in the day-to-day operations.”

Jumeirah Vittaveli Inaugurates Ice Skating Museum with Olympic Gold Medalist Evgeni Plushenko

Jumeirah Vittaveli has officially opened an ice skating museum at the resort’s ice skating rink ‘Ice Ice Maybe’ in the honor of Olympic gold medalist and three-time world champion, Evgeni Plushenko.

Mr Plushenko also hosted ice skating lessons on March 14 to 17 as a part of the ice rink’s first year anniversary.

Plushenko also inaugurated the ice rink on 20 March 2018 and returned this year for the anniversary celebrations of the ice rink, as well as to launch an Olympic gold medal winner ice skating museum at the ice rink.

Since April 2017 Evgeni is the coach of Adelina Sotnikova, the 2014 Olympic champion. He is also the coach of Vladimir Samoilov, a successful figure ice skater in Junior Championships.
